My 3 Kilaueas
I'm currently in the process of re-configuring them into one bike that I can commute with, and occasionally swap the tires to have more fun on.
See if you can guess/tell me which one I'm keeping.
Ha I love the forensic analysis on this forum, helped me buy my mint green sprayed 95 Kilauea (now back to pearl white at such expense that I can't consider selling it on).
I did notice the mudguards in the first picture and that made me sigh/think, are there any out there that would look...
Hi, anyone got any? I've been on the hunt for a while now on ebay but no joy. Need 180mm at least on the steerer, not fussy whether they are TB or canti or disc.
I have a set of threaded TB 410 a-to-c with 140mm on steerer if a swap would suit. They have just been powdercoated in pearlescent...
Same here, I found this... http://www.retrobike.co.uk/wiki/Retrobi ... _and_rules
...but I've had more than 5 posts. Do you have to start 5 new threads?
I'll lok after her don't worry. I would have gone to £160, which was a figure plucked out of the air considering the 3 hour round trip drive to get it.
I've got 2 Kilaueas now, this one and this viewtopic.php?f=4&t=339515 which I spent £125 on pearl white powdercoat and £38 on decals (very nice...
Re:
I picked it up this morning for £120. Bit wobbly but nothing that can't be fixed by a tinker.
This is the second time in the last 2 weeks, I have seen something on ebay, searched it, found you lot here telling me to buy it. I think I've reached my quota for this year already so ought to...
I had to get them done in white too as would have been an extra £68 to get them in the correct dark silver/grey.
Only got 140mm on the steerer so they have got to go, hopefully someone with a small bike out there wants them.
I'm thinking about getting this frame back in use asap now. Seems it could be either bronze, silver or white looking at the catalogue archive, I'd prefer white.
Was the pearl white really special or just a nice glossy white?
If the latter I might powdercoat it, or would I be better off doing a...
Not spent too long, about 3-4 hours. Used Nitromors and then wire wool and white spirit.
Did some models have the option of a custom paint job perhaps?
Re:
Had a bash at getting the paint off, I found a bit of the older metallic pink paint the seller mentioned, more purple I'd say.
Weight without the paint was 4lb 6.9oz and without is 4lb 5.9oz. Was getting worried for a while then realised that the weight in the Kona catalogues is 4.5lb, and...
