Hi :).. you can make pretty welds that don't break in the first place, but most frame builders welders / designers cant aren't pro engineers so cant tell the difference or figure out why they fail, or understand the modus operand of fatigue in Titanium and the material properties to prevent that...

Put it another way speaking as a professional engineer the frames I build DONT break, designed to race off road for 20 years and NEVER break.

Ladies, this is what your lovely little pretty welds do on a mainstream titanium frame - from an engineering perspective they are not good or strong welds or designs - so break, catastrophically fail in fatigue, have a good evening 👍

these are fixes of badly designed but nice pretty ti frames. Pretty welding is easy, but with these fixes, you have to put material back on to create the strength to prevent it failing again

yes that a pretty crap photo, reflects all over the place, but put aside the photo reflecting all over tte place, lovely welding. & thats not titanium, its very special material. far better than Ti

& yes, that is a Ti repair to a badly damaged Ti seat post, and the bottom bracket we welded of the Alpine Race Sport, that's NOT titanium, far nicer material.

we convert alot of them to disc, although the best Raleigh race/mtb Ti frames are very rare now

We have found the grade of Ti in those 1990s Raleigh SP ti frames, is some of the best i have never seen a fatigue failure on any of those frames now 35 years old, lovely material to weld too.
