    Polishing metal parts

It looks like oxidization under the clear coat, you could try some 2000 grit wet sand paper to remove it and polish the spot after, it won't be a great match as it'll be a mirror shine but that will dull with age. You could strip and polish the whole thing, but you'd lose the Hayes logo in the...

Is this a sign of worn cassette?

If worn the chain will skip under pedaling load, the skipping while freewheeling probably has more to due with the freewheel dragging. Those teeth are direction specific so they aren't made to hold a chain under high load in reverse.

    Polishing metal parts

I think those Hayes hubs are clear anodized. You can strip with oven cleaner and repolish but that is a lot of work. Never a bad idea to have a tub of Mothers Mag AL wheel polish around, best stuff for polishing AL. Once you have it, easy enough to confirm, anodized leaves very little...

The skf Fox 32mm seals, (green are the best) come with the dust seals, foam rings and foot nut crush washers. If you have flanged, stick with flanged.

1996 Trek Y11 URT pivot bushing cracked/dead rear shock (need guidance)

If they are the yellow plastic bushings (not shock eyelet bushings) you can measure and should be able to source directly from igus. But you'll need a cheap digital caliper to do it right. Figure out the dimensions and enter them in, you'll want the J grade bushings...

Getting a tyre to seat properly?

More soap, get the rim as well and spread that stuff around, if the surrounding area is lubed it'll help.

    Found my holy grail

Great bike! I love me some titanium. Ride the piss out of it. Nothing worse than a bike unridden.
