Help… Bike identify, anyone familiar with this bike brand?

Thanks guys, it is a nice frame and rides well enough but is no supermodel, the Dave Russell on the other hand is pretty special, it’s currently at my local framebuilders and definitely a keeper, the drive side chainstay cracked, better to find out on the workstand than on a 40mph decent! -...

Help… Bike identify, anyone familiar with this bike brand?

Hi, well im stumped, i bought a bike to use at Eroica last year, my previous ride a Dave Russell 653 had to be commited to the great bike hanging rack in the sky (snapped chainstay!) - picked this up, cleaned, lubed, fettled the gears, air in tires and presto did the 55 miler no probs, even rode...

    Peugeot PKN10 Competition - c1981

Period correct, PKN10 'Routier' 10spd in time warp condition, it does have a few nicks and scratches to be expected on a 35 year old frame but it has to be seen to be fully appreciated, the gold paint work looks fantastic in the sun, a real head turner. I bought the bike this year from a chap...

    Weird Fork Spacing Issues

Re: I've never heard of that but it certainly sounds like a practical idea, seems like a lot of extra effort though just to carry an extra gear or two, not to mention the added weight to the front wheel! - kinda cool though. I tried SS for a while, I'd bought a bike for the frame and was set...

    Weird Fork Spacing Issues

Re: Ah, interesting, it is a 9mm axle I believe, wonder what the performance gains would be doing that, stability perhaps? Fork is bang on 110mm so must have been altered, I've been in touch with Bob Jackson in Leeds so see what they make of it, hopefully it can be fixed without emptying my...

    Weird Fork Spacing Issues

Re: Yeah, he'd done a good job, I used a guy in Sheffield called Martin, he's based in Portland Works, he actually only does polishing work on Motorcycle parts usually but he also turns his hand to smaller jobs with bikes… as long as he likes what he sees! - top bloke, just don't ask him to...

Amazing, there not too far from me, I'll give them a call, couple of pics attached of the offending articles!

    Weird Fork Spacing Issues

Re: Not sure if the forks may have warped during the plating process or maybe even when they've been polished but they are absolutely true and appear fine visually... Just 10mm too wide! Did also wonder if perhaps they were knockoffs, but they have the Gios pantographing and stamped ends...

    Weird Fork Spacing Issues

I'm scratching my head on this one… I have a pair of used Gios forks that I bought for a refurb project, they weren't in bad shape but there was some pitting to the chrome so i had them re-chromed, they came back looking great ready to fit. I never actually checked the spacing when I bought...

This morning lesson - can anyone identify this PUG?

Ah, cheers Paul, looks about right, I'm pretty happy with it, just replacing a few cables and tubes, give it a proper ride this weekend and see how I get on, not used to friction shifting though! Think I'm going to stick a rack on the back and ride the way of the roses on it, those Tubus Fly...

Dave Russell - Cracked Chainstay Advice

Re: Haha, thanks oldmuthariley, I've seen your post before and figured it must have been the same bike, crazy. Well, I bought it about 4 years ago from a guy in the Midlands so sounds about right, it was actually being used on a turbo trainer as a fixie so I changed that straight away, no good...

    Mailard 'Trophy' Hub info?

Anyone had any experience upgrading the cassette on a Mailard 'Trophy' hub with a 5spd block? - is there any chance I could make this 6spd or perhaps even a 7? - I think it currently has a Simplex block on there but I'm not sure. I'm currently weighing up some options to sympathetically upgrade...

This morning lesson - can anyone identify this PUG?

Hey, thanks legrandefromage for that, does look exactly like the Routier although the cable routing is slightly different, it has a metal braze-on along the top of the chainstay, a metal guide under the BB shell and another on top of the BB for the front deraileur, perhaps it's slightly earlier...
