Period correct, PKN10 'Routier' 10spd in time warp condition, it does have a few nicks and scratches to be expected on a 35 year old frame but it has to be seen to be fully appreciated, the gold paint work looks fantastic in the sun, a real head turner. I bought the bike this year from a chap...

Re: Not sure if the forks may have warped during the plating process or maybe even when they've been polished but they are absolutely true and appear fine visually... Just 10mm too wide! Did also wonder if perhaps they were knockoffs, but they have the Gios pantographing and stamped ends...

Anyone had any experience upgrading the cassette on a Mailard 'Trophy' hub with a 5spd block? - is there any chance I could make this 6spd or perhaps even a 7? - I think it currently has a Simplex block on there but I'm not sure. I'm currently weighing up some options to sympathetically upgrade...

Hey, thanks legrandefromage for that, does look exactly like the Routier although the cable routing is slightly different, it has a metal braze-on along the top of the chainstay, a metal guide under the BB shell and another on top of the BB for the front deraileur, perhaps it's slightly earlier...

Picked this Peugeot up at the weekend, after much scrubbing with a toothbrush and a whole load of degreaser has come up really nice, It's a Peugeot Competition, not sure of year but must be early 80's i would imagine, a mix of Simplex, Mafac and Atax equipment, nice Rolls saddle, Stronglight...

Re: Interesting tip about the brace, crack maybe a little too close to the bb lug, what do you think, piece of thin metal and a load of zip ties? - and no, it doesn't have a bridge so guess was always going to be a weak spot, attached a couple of poor quality pics but you get the idea

Re: Ah, Interesting, and theres me thinking it may have been a stress fracture, I do jump the odd pothole of which where i live are numerous, comes from my mtb days I guess, not sure if Reynolds 653 is up to that kind of punishment!

Thanks guys, so no easy (safe) fix then, i'll hang it up until i've put the funds together for restoration, the frames a keeper, rides beautifully, worth the money for the grin factor alone when you pass those plastic bikes on the climbs haha! Excuse to buy another bike too!
