Correct. Z1, Z2 and other forks from the 1997+ have only rebound cartridges. Z1 has 2, Z2 has only 1.
Marzocchi startet compression cartridges with 2000 - afaik. That where the ones with the black inner needle screw (center one).

It is not about 'compression damping', this are 2 different tasks.
The compression force is taken by the spring. Some damping will be taken by the open oil bath, but there is no adjustable control like in later forks having both for compression and rebound. The Z2 has also that 20mm rebounds...
I did the suitable pistons (POM) for the shafts with higher wall thickness.
Shafts are available in 5 sizes :

I bought the paper version from the 2000 catalog @ Ebay and it just have arrived last weekend. I will scan it later and add it to the repro.
I can suply FS to IS adaptor only, it is like the Maguara one. But you may take this as a base to make your own, as it fits well the FS and IS dimensions.

One can repress the steerer. For this crown it is very easy.
Check your crown, it might have cracks in the bottom sides and on the left/right side clamps.
Alternative I have created a new crown, milled out of a block Alu 7075 T6 whic is much more stronger than the original casted ones.
