Re:
Well spotted PeachyPM! This was an aberration as I also usually start at the bottom and work up. But when I was fiddling around with this one, I noticed that if I reversed the installation I could expose the 'Brooks' stamped logo nicely...

Something not quite so English - Colnago 'arabesque' lugs in 24k gold.

The reason these lugs are my 'faves' have nothing at all to do with shape or design, or even rarity. It is simply due to a 'leap of faith' that turned out well. It's a 2017 Colnago...
Here is a few more photos of the process - for PeachyPM (apologies for my build brevity). Whilst the frame was away getting braze filled (a few very minor dents and nicks) copper / nickel / chrome plated, work was underway not only procuring the right components, but more often than not...
Re: Cinelli Laser Rivoluzione Pista '87 Info Wanted
Pretty much all of the Lasers were a mix of Columbus SL, Columbus SLX and Columbus Air tubing. I'd be very surprised if that Laser in made out of Gilco as it has no crimping - a key feature of the 'Gilco' tubeset. Here's my Pursuit that is...
Be very careful cleaning it - only use natural soap and water. Harsh solvents and cleaners (such as GoofOff) will wipe the paint off...Latex based paints are not really suitable for outdoors use.
Just finished the christening ride - final adjustments made, double Colorals in place even the flint catcher is working nicely!

I found the bottle cage in Turkey of all places - having a bit of a rummage through a bin of bits at a market. There was a guy on Ebay selling Raleigh twin bottle bar cages out of Greece a couple of weeks back and they looked remarkably similar.
Re:
Nothing more than a slight bar rotation and I need to move the levers about 5mm further down the drops. I generally build them with the lever ends roughly in line with the bottom of the drops as a starting point. Similarly the saddle needs a slight adjustment (a little backwards and nose...

1952 Hetchins Magnum Bonum Part 3

1952 Hetchins Magnum Bonum Part 2 - the treasure hunt
Determining what a 'correct' or at least 'period correct' specification that the bike was originally built to took a fair bit of reading. Among many other interesting articles and archived photos inspected that shed light upon the typical...
I've always had a bit of a thing for the post war British bicycles with fancy lugwork, especially the Ephgraves and Hetchins. So I was delighted to spot a rather petite Hetchins Magnum Bonum on Ebay stripped to just a frame and fork. This looked like a project!
First thing was get to it...
