Interesting topic... I've currently got a US built 2000 GT Timberline and a 'UK designed' 'made in Taiwan' Genesis and the Genesis wins hands down in every department. It's a cracking frame for the money.

I recently got back into bike in a huge way (tbh I never left) and I've bought the girlfriend a cheap, but decent bike to start keeping up with me on the rough stuff. It's a Carrera Jabberwock, I think it's an 02/03 - the frame made but Medina anyway and someone has spent some money on SRAM 9.0...
