    Thanks for all the responses. Maybe I’ll try some kool stops. I remember using regular black shimano pads at the beginning, before wrongly assuming they were ceramic. The braking is a lot better with ceramic pads than the standard black shimano ones!

    Hi team what brake pads are recommended for grey Mavic x517s? I thought they were ceramic so I’ve been using ceramic pads but then I realised there are the ceramic versions of the rims as well as just the grey coated versions. The coating seems to be rubbing off… I assume I should be using...

    Thanks for your reply. I think it won’t work to directly swap the rims onto my existing wheel as it will be slightly different ERD. Plus I’d love to get an exact match with the front wheel

    Thanks yeah the problem with that is that I need space for grips, brake levers and a shifter (these are going on a kingpin not a bmx) and all the modern bars are so wide I don't think I'd have enough space. Ideally I want them about 22-23" wide after cutting down. The knee saver type look about...

    Thanks, I'm looking for an exact match so I can just swap the rim by moving the spokes over. And I think a 317 is maybe disc only, I need a braking surface.
