    Orange Clockwork Prototype

It was definitely after 1st August 1997 but I'm not sure when the bike was actually built. It could have been built earlier than that as you say, however it was not sold - I helped a chap that lived in Halifax who told me he was a 'designer'. I had no idea what he designed and didnt ask, but...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

It was definitely after August 1997 (as my work area changed from Huddersfield to Halifax shortly after I collected a brand new P reg company car on 1st August 1997) and late autumn 1999 (which is when I found out I was moving to Suffolk and put the bike in the garage). I cannot be precise but...

You're not wrong on that markcoc, I cannot understand what's gone on with that rear mech. Daft thing is... I showed my wife these posts about it having a new rear mech fitted and her reply was 'Well they're wrong!' I said 'that's what I thought' but then explained I'd looked into it too and...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

I sold it to a local chap (in Elland), it took him a few hours to get it running and he's going to be running around in it as his daily driver. I also have a 1988 Honda VFR that's been sat in the garage, I'll probably sell that to make space for my new mountain bike.

That's brilliant!! Is yellow an unusual colour for Clockworks?

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

The first ride will be pretty brief, seeing the bike next to a modern mountain bike has made want a new one - so as a nod to the past I've ordered a Orange Clockwork Evo 29 for when the weather is crap. The wife was delighted...

Hi FluffyChicken and d8mok, I completely agree that the CL code indicates 2004, I've found the Shimano date matrix online and this agrees with what you're both saying. No one has swapped that mech over and no-one had access to the garage from the end of 1998 until 2025. The bike was not...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

Hi, my mind is even more blown by this because it is impossible for that bike to have components fitted to it after the end of 1998. Can you point me in the direction of the date stamp you are referring to please - cheers. Also, it couldnt have been 1999 as I'd moved away by then, it had to...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

There is absolutely no way was that rear mech (or any other components) was added later. Just my mum and I lived at the house in Elland and, in 1998, my mum was 53 y.o and never rode a bike. No one else lived or had access to the garage and the garage door was knackered (it dropped off the...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

Thanks for this, I really appreciate it. I tend to agree with you with your best guess. He definitely gave me the bike after 1st April 1997 (as I loaded it into my P reg company car) but it could have been early 1998 also. I just remember it being a sunny day outside the Fleece Inn, Elland...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

Forgot to mention, now the bike is stripped down to bare frame and had a wipe - we've had a look for the serial number and I've run this through ChatGPT (which I realise might be complete b&llocks, but I've only just started using AI a few weeks ago so I'm putting everything thought it 🤣). It...

    Orange Clockwork Prototype

He is aware of the website but not sure whether he is a member. I'll ask when I next see him. I did pop down this afternoon and said 'that's come up nice'. He said 'we havent cleaned it yet, just wiped it down with a cloth before we started taking parts off it!' I quizzed him about the...
