Help age my bike - puch cavette

I found date stamps on the components most useful on my Puch, particularly the cranks, front derailleur, stem, etc - all indicated 78 for my bike.

Sounds about right; - Suntour Chainset & Mechs, check, (though rear mech is currently Shimano). - Weinneman brakes, check. - Suntour bars and stem, check, (I have original stem). - Seatpost has a set of initials on it, 'GJ' I think. - Wheels have been replaced with Weinnemann, and I put the...

    Show me your single speeds!

Apologies, I meant most full-sus single speeds - should have been clearer. URT meaning the effective pivot is concentric with the front sprocket I presume. Dave

    Show me your single speeds!

My ebay special 'Land Rover' DSX frame, built up with new components to make a 10.5kg, full sus, SS MTB; Rockshox XC30TK Forks Hayes Hydraulic Disk brakes FSA K-Force Stem and Bars, (looking for seatpost). VeloSolo 1/8" sprockets and chain. Shimano Alfine chain tensioner I notice some other SS...

    Great big Singlespeed thread!

Thanks, it's a bit different and quite good fun. I liken the single speed to riding a BMX as a kid - you just pedal without worrying about the correct gear; "want to go faster - pedal harder" That event looks good fun, is it a set route, or more like cycle orienteering?

And some nice new alloy MKS-E pedals to replace the worn old MKS pedals it came with. New pedals are a bit chunkier but have a bit more grip to them.

First retro roadbike - 1970's Puch Mistral

This is bicycle number 5, but the others are too new; 2014 Land Rover Hydro 650B, (+ crud catchers) 2012 Land Rover Aero (Hybrid touring bike with panniers) 2008 Land Rover DSX90, (modified full sus - only the frame is original). Though this one might count as retro, and is the one I've had...

Brakes should have been top of the list, but the new callipers took ages to arrive. Before (Shimano Tourney front, Wiennmann 500 rear). After (Weinnmann 400 Carrera front and rear). New stainless cables fitted, (purchased from my local bike shop). Full set of new brake pads are on their way...

Have we done home brewing yet?

Re: Re: You want it closer to 20 Degrees, see if there's somewhere warmer to put it. Would suggest getting some more yeast, rehydrating it in a starter, (small glass with sugar dissolved in some water), then adding. I pressed 14 gallons of cider in 2013, 8 in 2014, and am up to 10 so far this...

First retro roadbike - 1970's Puch Mistral

Getting to some of the detail work now, including giving the seatpost a bit of a clean up. Photo is before and after of the same part, I used 600 grit, then 1500 grit emery cloth to clean the post up, before polishing it. Put all back together and pretty pleased with the result. Also, found...
