Confounded by brake set up on a Joe Waugh

It is pretty short, 975mm on a nominal 56cm frame but interestingly, while it is sharp, lively and responsive, I don't find it twitchy which coming from a 57 year old whose daily drivers are a Condor light tourer and a Kinesis ATB is saying something. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to cope...

Confounded by brake set up on a Joe Waugh

Thank you all for your really informative contributions-it just goes to show how a little learning is a dangerous thing. I rode 27" as a kid in the 70s, took most of the 80s off a bike, returned solely to MTB and by the time I got back into road bikes after about 2005, figured that 700c was...

Confounded by brake set up on a Joe Waugh

The rear dropouts are Columbus, don't think the front have been filed (they don't look to be but the space is more U shaped than D shaped), and the fork crown is rather slimline. I tried a set of Veloce single pivots which are a little better but still in the same ballpark. I didn't realise...

    Loft finds.

The Joe Waugh would be from Joe's M. Steel Cycles shop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne (now shut) and would probably be mid eighties-mid nineties, various Reynolds tubesets . Many of the frames were built by Dave Yates (road frames of the period carried the Joe Waugh name and MTB carried Dave...

Confounded by brake set up on a Joe Waugh

I have recently refurbished a lovely Dave Yates built Joe Waugh 531 frame but am stumped by the brake shoe alignment-the frame is a standard 700c, the calipers are standard drop Campag Centaur (I don't think they ever made deep drop Centaur), wheels are bog standard Rigida rims on Shimano RSX...

For Sale Campagnolo Chorus 9 Speed Groupset components for sale

Hard to tell what's sold, but if the rear mech is still available, I'll take it.

For Sale Opinion on used Maddux RD3.0 wheelset

+1 for both comments and I would add that they are the only wheels (fitted on a Synapse) I have routinely broken spokes on-treat as disposable.

    Wanted 27.0 seatpost 250mm fluted

I have a fluted Kalloy in nice overall condition which is 230mm rails to end if the last 20mm is not essential. Currently asking £20+pp on fleabay, open to offers.

Wanted Campagnolo 27.2 mm aero seatpost

If you are still looking, I have a couple of 210mm which are well used and scuffed up but could look nice given a polish, one marked as Chorus, the other I think is the A0R2 C-Record design (unfortunately I eBayed my really nice shield logo C-Record Aero last week).

120-140mm trail fork, 26" with QR, 210mm min steerer.

Firstly, thanks to everyone for the responses, second, sorry I haven't replied. Since posting, the gas boiler has crapped out completely - it's younger than most of my bikes but still beyond economical repair, so the new one has cost an effing fortune and replacement forks have plummeted down...

120-140mm trail fork, 26" with QR, 210mm min steerer.

Doing one of those "I'll just transfer all the bits" builds to a larger Anthem frame to find the 185mm steerer on my Recon 327 is that bit too short. Might get away with 200mm, but saying 210 to be safe. Has to be QR unless you have a thru axle front wheel you want to throw in? Would be happy...

The Glenrothes Select Reserve Speyside Single Malt

A lovely gift for a Scotch drinker - but I don't drink Scotch. Unopened (obviously) and in it's display box. £37 at Berry Bros. & Rudd. Ideally I'd like to trade for bike related items - top of list a Schwalbe Pro One 28mm Road Tubeless Tyre or a Campy 9 speed rear mech, Veloce or above...
