Mystery Marin

Correct with the number...Glad to be of assistance.
If I can get the cable guide off (screw jammed solid), would that be helpful as there is part of a set of numbers under it?

For the search engine (they can't read photos ... yet) number appears to be FE2AA0002
I still don't have many frame numbers from this range of Marins, but this is a handy addition.

Best guess is that the number dates the frame to 1992, so could be a 1993 model year.
It isn't a 1994 Indian Fire Trail, as those frame numbers all start 'MJ4'

I contacted marin several years ago, when i started looking into marin frame numbers.
They told me the number i sent them "was not a marin frame number".

Strange how i bought the bike new from marin in 89....so it definitely was...😂.

I've got shoes older than most of the staff left at marin...so don't expect any clarity or wisdom from them..🤣

🤣 Won't bother sending another email then!

Are you serious? The owner simply renewed it. Back then, it was super easy and super cheap to get replacement badges and decals from the suppliers. I still have some envelopes from Fat Chance, GT, Scott and Klein. Klein and/or Merlin even mention replacement decals in their price list sheets for dustributors for super low bucks. literally anyone could simply order them and apply them to their older bikes.

Frame sitting in the factory for 3 years before being built up was the only possible answer you came up with? You wouldnt make a good detective ;)

Assuming both the Ebay bike and @Dave Rider have the original forks, the Ebay bike is aheadset, whilst Dave's is threaded. May have a date stamp on the steerer tube visible if you take the forks out.
Dave's also has the rack mounts on the seatstays, the ebay bike doesn't.
