Walking through the medina in Essaouira there were a lot of bikes being used as everyday transport, most were Dutch style sit up and beg from Gazelle, Cannondale and a variety of manufacturers I have never heard of but the two I noticed were Phoenix and Flying Pigeon which are both Chinese copies of the Raleigh Sports.

Ooh the details. When I see this handlebar mod, it is usually done without the effort of replacing the brake levers. It is often performed with safety style levers, the extra brake bar cradles a twelve pack of beer nicely when nestled between the uprights

Yes, good to see that classic mod rear its ugly head on this thread (the 'antler mod' as I think of it).

I once saw someone riding a bike with brifters mounted on the top on their swivelled-up bars. I guess this meant braking was easier with a very upright position, but I can only think the shifting must have been really awkward. It just goes to show some people prioritise being entirely upright on a bike above pretty much anything else.
