Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Got chatting to a random bloke on one of these (Helix Titanium) the other day:

I’ve heard about them before but never seen one in the flesh until now. It looked well made, and possibly fun to ride. Canadian made with 24 inch wheels, titanium frame, lefty etc.
Apologies if it’s already been posted up the thread!

well it's a first for me if it has been posted before. A folding fork is an very unusual idea. lots of interesting ideas on it, including QR pedals.

I was really confused about the folding as the wheels couldn't fold past the frame, so I've had to google. both the front and the rear (at the pivot) slide about 2" sideways to clear the frame. That's crazy and also clever, but mainly crazy.

That's genius, and beautiful to look at.

The utlralight with 12 speed SRAM weighs 9.2kg and costs about £4k.

I've had a few before, struck me as the nicest smallish folder.
Cheaper than a new Moulton.
Cheaper than trade anything worth owning.
If I get thrown off the Newport bus, I'll just sell it in the shop, there's a reasonable market for decent folders from people who don't want to pay over 1k for a brompton mud-anchor.🤣
Airnimal sadly being returned, due to massive stress marks and bendy tubes: IMG_20250913_194023.webp

This is on the underside, the join between the main frame tube and the downtube🙄
I suspect some kiddy has tackled some huge drop-offs with it.

Good day out on my Pacific Reach last week - had to take the car to a specialist and the Reach is ideal to throw in the back. Part of the ride was along the Bournemouth Seafront and the Castleman trailway. The Reach with 28mm gravel tyres is surprisingly comfortable on unsurfaced stuff. The suspension does a great job of soaking up the bumps and buzz.

The current build uses 10 speed drivetrain with bar-end shifters for robustness in case the folds and general rough treatment upset the indexing.

The busses around the Peak District have a full size bike rack at the rear.. @bikeworkshop ..they're large enough for 4 or 5 bikes, so you and a few friends can just strap your bike up at the rear, hop on the bus, hop off, collect your bike and ride off on your merry way.. very progressive!
I saw busses like that over in edinburger a few years ago but the racks were at the front of the bus for that extra mutilation and skewerage of idiotic tourists 😂😂
