Cheapish bikes often need to hit a fashion note, because that's what gets them sold - we have to respond to demand.
Plenty of shops long gone now because the proprietor thought he knew better

It rides really nice
I thought I'd be muttering about the high bb but with that, big wheels and the taller front end, it sweeps majestically through the traffic, peds and deliveroo victims like a hawk through a herd of wildebeest

I don't think it makes much difference at all, when it comes to riding, compared to the effect of 70-100kgs average rider weight, above the BB has.

If the bb is an inch higher, the centre of mass is (almost) too as the average rider weighs almost 10x the bike.
My most comfortable bikes i ride all the time have low bb, including the TiBride

But I think an urban piece handing requirement is more akin to mtb
