Castle siege! Kastle XC-F 900

Then we move on to the "heaviest" part.
The pedals must be stripped and sanded before painting them.
1st photo: Stripped above, sanded below.
2nd photo: Primer.
3rd photo: The first white coat, which will give it shine and lighten the green.

Well, then I moved on to painting in green.
I want to point out here that even though I looked for a similar RAL, I couldn't find it.
I know who paints for Pramac, whose corporate color is very similar in apple green and red, but they didn't know when they were going to paint in that color again, and I certainly wasn't going to use 1 liter of paint to throw 900 cc in the trash.
So I looked for the closest match (that's why I paint in white beforehand to clarify) and decided to do it myself.

After painting, I had to varnish. I've already mentioned that I'm terrible at it, I don't know why, but I'm terrified of varnishing. But I was even more terrified of doing the entire assembly without varnishing first... not to mention trying the pedals without varnishing them.
In the end, it didn't turn out so badly, as you can see in the second photo.

Okay, now it's time to get serious about riding.
The fork is killing me. Being a 2000 model, I think the SID would be the best.
I've had a SID XC for years and it works well, haha. It's logical, it's barely used, even the vinyl is spotless.
On the other hand, I thought the original Race was a mess, which is why I considered the XC. When I blew air into it, it stood up tall, and it's been like that for a month, without losing a single mm. To top it off, the rebound works...

But like I said, I don't know much about Rock Shox and I don't know which model would be better.
I've compared them, and interestingly, although the overall height is similar, the XC's legs are 24 mm taller, although the bridge is barely 1 cm higher. The Race's crown is infinitely prettier than the XC's (super tacky), although I like the XC's bridge better.
I think the XC is from '99...no idea, I don't know anything about SID.

So in the end, the scales ruled. The Race weighs an incredible 1.19 kg with the spider and everything! And while it's true that the XC has a couple of cm longer head tube, its 1.4 kg length is pretty average, nothing remarkable.
So I'm using the Race. It's also the original.

Well, for now, knowing it's from the 2000s is pretty motivating: A first-generation XO is the thing, introduced in 2000, although I think it was distributed in 2001.
The Ritchey headset, despite being the original, wasn't entirely clear to me; it seems too thin for that chunky diagonal tube, so a Cane Creek S2 I had in the closet is the thing. The Ritchey will be great for something else.

I'd like to mount some Italian components, well, as a tribute to Luciano Benetton, a cycling enthusiast.
So, I think the ITM Outback seatpost and handlebar would be good.

Things I'm not sure about: the Kore stem with the Manitou was fantastic, but I'm not sure about it with the SID.
The Stronglight cranks arrived on Friday, but I don't know if they're staying or I'll save them for something else.
So far, it's progressing.

Could someone tell me how to move this thread to a more appropriate forum, perhaps "Bike Chat 1998."
Thanks to the forum's contribution to discovering the possible year of manufacture, I've started assembling the bike and I don't think it's appropriate to share it here.
Or perhaps I should open a new thread.
I'll do whatever you recommend.

I've made a little more progress this weekend, but I'm afraid I'll have to stop for a while, as I need wheels and I'm going on vacation. It's not a good time to order them and have them go missing.

For now, I've basically installed all the parts: Avid mag brakes with their mag levers, I think, are what the bike needs.
Also, in my attempt to "Italianize" the control station, I decided to install some "Pro Grip" grips, which also have perfectly defined cutting areas for the Grip Shift.
I've also repaired some issues with the Grip Shift, such as the windows and dials.
Not much to go, just waiting for the wheels to finish.
