Bikes and trains

Anything that gets me out on a bike is a good thing😃
Also after riding up a mountain is always good to have a reason to take a photograph.

Unusual that it's of a railway🤣 they are usually located at the bottom of the hill

I wondered how long it would take me to find a photo of a bike with my favourite train in the background...
I was born in the Netherlands and remember those trains, though at the time I used to travel to school most of those trains were in a yellow livery with a blue band around the windows for Intercity services. I loved those trains, they had a certain ride quality because they were heavy, they were most suited to longer distance routes as they took longer to accelerate and slow down. On certain routes you could hear the rumble of these trains on the tracks from quite some distance away!
The green one as in the photo was an earlier livery and my favourite. There was a group of people in the Netherlands who actually bought a train and had it restored and repainted for preservation and exhibition purposes, a bit like what we do with our bikes.
Lovely photo. It brought back some memories from my school years during the 80's!

I remember riding those trains on smaller lines in the nineties.

Waiting for a train home at Warrington West train station after acquiring this beauty a few months ago.
I was impressed with the general condition and since replacing the forks for the 2x4 rigid forks, replaced the seatpost, handlebars and tyres.
I'd say it is about 97% original now. One of those bikes I wished I could afford in the early 90's is now a dream come true.😁
