Alright?

So here is the original bike. The budget was small as it was my birthday money being used to fund it and when you get to 40 years you don't get alot. 😄 I won the ascender on ebay for £2.20 + £20 p&p.
The brief was it had to do everything, commute, haul shit about, and tow my 4 year old about in his trailer. Amazingly 15 minutes out of the box I was riding around on it! No major issues apart from age related cracked tyres. As you will see I don't like normal and love bright colours and patterns. Feel free to roast but I've had so much fun sourcing parts and restoring other bits and bobs. It's not been a waste of time and it's got me back into a long forgotten hobby.
Remember a mate getting an Ascender for Christmas, was jealous was I still had my old Marauder. You’re getting back in to this at a good time as prices are low, good luck with your future builds.

Cheers mate 👍 weird really when I was a kid I loved my bmx bikes, raleigh burner, hoffman and haro but I'm abit long in the tooth for a bmx now. But seeing some of these old mtbs with more modern gear on them really interested me.

I love the animal motif you went with. The leopard print saddle is divine! Can you tell me about it?
Thanks bud 👍 the original raleigh seat was like as stone. After lots of Google searches I couldn't find what I wanted so I just bought a mid range seat from halfords and some fur leppard print fabric from eBay. Dismantled the seat, stapled and glued the fabric into place, keeping it tought as you go. I always find working to a budget keeps you creative.

I quite like the way it almost coordinates but doesn’t, managing just enough variation of hues to offend the less artistic.
