Help identifying bike

Retro Newbie
I've just picked this up of FB marketplace, and am curious to see if anyone can identify the model? It has oval tubes. I paid £115 and am thinking it was too much tbh. 1000026234.webp 1000026233.webp 1000026231.webp 1000026227.webp

dating note -

if one takes the machine's Sachs-Huret bits to be original to it they should provide a specific date

beginning in 1978 fittings received a four digit date marking where the first two digits indicate the week of the year and the second two the year as in this example -

Tracer name on chainset not one have seen previously

makes me wonder if it may refer to marque of cycle rather than brand of chainset; perhaps another reader shall have more information on this...

The paint finish looks a lot like Montana graffiti paint. It was popular with the retro cars scene for a bit because of its covering power and that matte, slightly textured finish.

GB Farrad (?) on the stem makes me think at least the stem is German? Though the correct German spelling would be fahrrad so I think that might not right.

The Sachs-Huret ratcheting (or retro-friction?) shifters are interesting. Not seen very often and worth cleaning up. Nice "modern" combination with the braze-on type front derailleur, one which I haven't seen before. What rear derailleur does the bike wear?

The frame looks pretty much entry level, but apparently someone thought it worth refurbishing, so it might be a nice ride. I'd give it a try. One never knows, do one?

I've seen these frames before:

An entry level racer-style bike, squashed gaspipe tubing, nothing "nice" about it but period and functionality as transport.

A little prone to cracking.

I wonder if it is MBK or similar mass-market euro-brand.

You might find info thru the frame number, and there might be details stamped on the fork steerer, along with residue of the original paint.

A photo of the dropouts,bb and brake bridge helps identify build quality and origin.

I would guess on
plain, thin stamped dropout,
plate brake bridge or Chainstay bridge,
and unthreaded guard/rack eyes.

French bb, he threads? 50:50

Fun project😃,
but lucky seller😉

I don't think the stem is Original though, the quality is a bit high, as well as being a UK part, and it's got the wrong bolt - a common swapout for chrome bars🤔
