Did they name orange "orange" because of oranges, or are oranges "orange" because of orange? Was Orange named for orange or oranges?

Now the sun is shining again, there's some colour to be found out riding.
My 90s litespeed (Owned 20yr) used to have mektronic on it, but it became unpredictable after thousands of miles commuting in rain
Still got it in a box, I might replace the main micro switch and see if that does it.
