Er, eh, what?! How has the (titanium) chainstay been 'rubbed' through like that? Deliberately use a loose-spoked wheel and attach some tungsten blades to the rim and enjoy hearing it grate through? I've seen tyre rub...odd...just odd...

Too wide a tyre would be my guess. That or riding home on a busted wheel.

shhhhh, they'll hear you and put the price up even further for what is now a collection of titanium tubes that sort of look like a bike.

the stay has cracked, it might be repairable, but really it's a wall hanger now. it's not worth that price.

Stupidity: fairly regularly I'll hear another cyclist braking - not using brake blocks, but the metal once all the block has long-since gone. Steel + ally, grating away in a beautifully metallic harmony. Divs

Wheel dished incorrectly to one side and some mud? Unlikely but could the frame be misaligned?

I reckon it’s been cut with a tool. I can’t see how a tyre could slice through the stay that neatly. For sure rubbing over time might do it, but it is quite deep… it’s very odd… and yes expensive for something that needs an expensive repair!
