Wanted Green U.S.E seatpost 🙏🏻

Got a silver one if you’re interested? 25mm diameter, 350mm long. The red S has faded but otherwise I’m pretty good shape and would clean up nice.

Hi ..I'm not "down" with fitting these as I know I'll need a shim...as my 93 cindercone is 26.6mm I presume I can get one quite easily??...if so I am interested.
How much are you asking for it please?

Kind regards

Ian

Its actually 26.4mm you will need. They come up now and again, could also stick a post up in the wanted section, someone may have one floating about they are not using.

I appreciate your honesty...so I take it using a shim is frowned upon then? 🙃
Thank you so much,I will put up a wanted post then. 🤞🏼
Best wishes

Not at all, I use them quite a bit in my bikes. However you do need to be cautious in some frames as they can add extra stress around the seattube area. Try to find proper USE shims as they tend to be longer, helping to spread the contact area inside the tube.

So sorry for my lack of knowledge...a bit out of my depth in certain areas ha ha.
Sooo am I right in saying your post will be fine to use (pardon the pun) as long as I locate the correct shim to suit?

We are always happy to help with any questions mate :)

Steel frames tend to be fine, the caution applies more to alluminium and Ti frames etc. The same cautions apply to using short seatposts in frames, the longer the post, the more the forces are spread throughout the seat tube, shorter seatposts apply force around the top tube/seat tube/seatstay area and can cause faliure. Correct size long seatposts are the best option, as long as they are inserted far enough into the frame, but harder to find nice posts in unusual sizes or colours, hence USE posts and shims.

With Kona's and other sloping top tube bikes, longer seat posts are often needed, it is important to get a long enough post that inserts far enough below the seat tupe/ top tube junction to stop the forces (more so with a longer post sticking out), from being concentrated on that area. As I said previously though, I use them in a lot of my frames, I am not as light as I once was and they have never let me down so far.

Thanks again for your solid information....I'm overwhelmed by how much in depth help I am getting on here.
I built up a 94 Kilauea during lockdown, and got slightly carried away with certain components.
But deep down I should have been patient and bought the bike I firstly intended to find and build ...The 93 Cindercone I had from new as a 15 yr old bought and saved with a rubbish summer job and the sale of my 1990 Muddyfox pathfinder (loved that paintwork, but weighed a TON)
30 years on I've found a frame, forks and stem in fantastic condition which I intend to gradually build up mostly based on the components I added over the following years until it got stolen in about 98!!
I will be using the wheels from my Kilauea build and a few other parts but other than that the frame will be sold along with forks ,stem, seatpost and anything else that won't bolt onto my cindercone and also won't suit.
I know I will regret this sale later on as I love the bike but just can't justify keeping it too and like I said,I was only intending to buy a Cindercone in the first place when I started looking back in late 2019.
Please see attached image....you may have already seen it before somewhere online but sharing with you as you seem to love your Kona's 👍🏻
