Cosmetically they are like new, but the front only shifts one click and won't engage the second, the rear no clicks at all.

I've yet to spray anything in them to see if the grease has simy dried up, but I'd like to open them up before I do so I can see what I'm working with. Has any wise sage got any tips on how to open them up without damaging them?

They've been been boxed for years and were working when stashed away and I'm toying with a build they would be perfect for if I can get them working and keep them looking mint.

I think 50 % of the shifters I get are like this. Easily sorted. Take the bottom cover off and look for the small ratchet arm which holds the gear in place as you click. Squirt GT85 and use a small screwdriver to move said arm until it has free movement. Continue to click the shifter until it works.

Thanks, happened to have a bit of time today so had a go at this. The rear shifter was very gummed up, took ages but got it working nicely. The front was much easier and took about a minute.

Very pleased as they are now mint on the outside, ditto functionally.
