Right so next on the list: Tri-Dangles!
I'd bought these NOS ones in purple very early doors:
But the further along I went, the more just one random hit of 3DV just felt out of place.
The set of Tri-Aligns I'd bought from Tim came with dangles too, the only issue was that one was a very faded purple and the other very faded turquoise!
But this gave me an excuse to try out the caustic soda method you've all been banging on about...
With all the talk of goggles, eruptions and foul smells I was expecting the worst... but the reaction was so mild once I'd made the solution I was actually a little skeptical. Turns out I shouldn't have been; following the dip, remove, wash, re-dip method, a few minutes later I was left with this:
Which, after a little wire wool action, soon became this:
At which point out came the wet and dry and the Maas...
(I'm going to need a new tube, or four, for the next build)
And after all that we ended up here:
I might actually give them another going over before installing them, but I'll move on for now; my caustic soda rite of passage completed...
