Screws into itself so no threads needed in the frame . Not amazing quality but good enough to keep the frame usable .

Mavic made a really nice bottom bracket that also threads into itself. It's top quality and you can change out the spindle, but you have to have a special tool to chamfer the edges of the bottom bracket shell. Plus, getting your hands on one with the right length JIS spindle is tricky.
