No trains, no work, no cry. Ride out into a still and quiet land unrecognisable to the day before. Drop into woodland. Climb up into the hills and look down on the world not going about it's business. Beautiful doesn't do it justice. Tyres are working ok but suffer from the rare but temporary condition known as 'Ice Cleat'. Walking not riding gets tiring and takes it's toll on the spirit. Granny ring out of action as chain is not happy down there at all. Plough on through stunning alpine vistas. Already dangerous rutted chalk paths transformed into utterly lethal streams of concealed icey lumpen. Make it home at last to a lot of biscuits and tea. No doubt. Best ride of my life.
