Didn't the Daytona have square chain/seatstays? This looks a lot like my 909DH, but without the suspension. Isn't that the 800 series then? Indeed the 500 series were CroMo and cheaper ones (probably also more "crack-proof" :twisted

Don't think this is a Daytona, though it's a good price. I'd rebuild it with better parts, maybe 737XT stuff (somehow I think that'll look right on that bike).
