1958 23" Pennine complete bike - STILL AVAILABLE

Old Ned

Old School Grand Master
Still available and I want to make room!! New carbon bike (SORRY!!) needs space! And I've reduced the price a bit more.

Continuing my cull of non-ridden bikes I have decided to part with my Pennine. I spent quite some time sourcing all the period parts and am very happy with the build and the ride but it just isn't getting any use so sadly it's on the 'disposal list'. I'm sure I will regret it in due course but there it is.

The bike features in the Readers' Bikes section of Classic Lightweights website with an earlier selection of fittings. The chainset, bars and stem have since been upgraded.

http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/bi ... ns-rb.html

Frame is 531 and was refurbished in the mid-80's by Pennine. Period fittings (listed in full on the CL entry) include Benelux Mk 7 rear mech and rod front, TA Professional chainset and full TA BB assembly, NOS Ambrosio stem and GB bars, Brooks Pro saddle, Weinmann brakes with nice lever hoods, Campag Nouvo GS hubs etc.

In view of the quality of componentry etc. I am looking for £375.00 plus carriage to a UK mainland address only. Payment by cleared cheque or cash only (no Paypal etc.)

EDIT - price reduction - AGAIN!

pennine

If I had that I would have to paint the little pictures on the top of the seat stays.I was quite taken with that when a mate of mine had one in the same colour

Yes, I had thought about doing this myself. A few fir trees, a mountain, sky and clouds.

I'll get me paints out!

Thats the one. It would look excellent. I am not allowing myself any more bikes at the moment. You get to the point where you have more than you can ride but in all honesty out of everything I have seen recently that one has tempted me more than any other.Paint the stays and keep it. Its too good to sell.

Peter

If I remember correctly Johnny Mapplebeck's wife used to do the paintings and every one was different. My first lightweight was a Pennine.

Yes Thats what I am told.It was Dave the club captain who had the pennine. At the time I was riding around on a Bertin professional . It had far steeper angles resulting in a much shorter wheelbase and responsive ride but it lacked the sheer quality of the pennine .

Very nice!

Perfect L'eroica bike for someone?

They'll be none of these in Tuscany :0)

Absolutely correct!!

If it wasn't so far etc. I'd use it myself.
