I have nothing agaisnt products made in taiwan , but surely Jones is selling out a bit of the legend by doing that .
or it is very clever marketing , make a few frames in a log cabin lost in the woods for a few years , gain a great reputation ( and well deserved may i add ) and cash in by mass producing .

Offer something very expensive and limited for a bit , get merlin to make more of them and finally offer them in a cheaper material with even more mass potential . kerr ching . Who cares if you've made your name worthless , you don't have to get your hands dirty anymore .

I dont think just anyone would buy one, infact im fairly sure no one would buy one unless they new Jones and followed them, i think you would look an idiot on 1 at a trail centre as 99% of people looking at it would not have a clue what it was, they would think it was something out of a skip that was made in the 30s :cry:
I also dont think a steel 1 would sell, why would anyone who wanted to buy a Jones buy one made of an inferior material, Jones are Titanium and nothing else and thats what people would buy. surely

4130 is good steel, I would have one in that flavour! In fact will probably get one. No interest in a Ti one. Give it a couple of years and I am sure I might pick one up at a good price.
Since when is steel inferior to Ti? It is all in the application.
I have ridden Ti but I prefer a steel/carbon mix.
I think they will sell well.

Im not saying steel is inferior in that respect i have 3 steel hardtails and 1 Ti framed bike and i love the flex in the steel frames but Ti has just got something about it that steel doesnt, ask me if Ti is worth the extra £1,000 a frame id definatly say no, but i do prefer the ride of the Ti to steel, its like a Chrysler Vs a Bentley i suppose.
it will be interesting to see what the reviews are like. the Ti bike is shaped in such a way so the ride is smoothed out etc, even adding extra tubing to it to enhance the ride and soak up extra shock.
the steel will be real stiff and will have a hell of a lot of steel tubing for looks only. so im keen to know what its like.

4130 is bog standard cromoly, one up from Hi-tensile.
As an exercise in tube benders skills, the ti model is quite, err, fascinating, but to try and replicate that in steel is pointless.
How much does that thing weigh, for chrissakes?
