Some might say I have too many Alpinestars, but generally I don't like to listen, it's a collection after all, and yesterday I was fortunate enough to add to my collection... :D

So I'm scanning through ebay in the back garden with a nice iced tea in my hand, sun blistering down on me and I spot a 1991 AlMegaDX, looks tidy enough, owner says it's been used for the first 5 years of it's life and left for the past 14yrs or so, doing nowt. Sounds like my kinda bag, so I message the seller to see if we can do a deal, and that's when I noticed that not only was it in the same county as me, but less than 20miles away at that = RESULT!!

Met the seller (Nigel) and what a great guy he was, I can tell you  . He spoke about how he bought it new, loved racing it for 4-5yrs, a man of true passion for these things, we chatted for what seemed like ages. Then he presents me with the original bill of sale, all the service records and bills, owners manual, and scans of all the component manuals, and even better than that - a catalogue from 1991 for my collection........

So without further ado, some pics.

Cheers Alex,

Clean the tyres up I think   and then just leave it at this spec - it's exactly as it left the shop 19yrs ago (the owner specced the Deore thumbies and suntour b/levers prior to buying it) which I think is a nice way to leave it and use it.

No cracks on the frame anywhere either, which is a bonus, too.. 8)

put on a Flite saddle and that it will be the best race bike!! :D

Hmmm, maybe....

I love flite's, but I also love that this still has the original Avocet, too :? :?

nice one. is it as tidy as it looks?

Yeah, I guess, depending on how you look at it??

It's certainly well used  and if you look under the down-tube, that's hundereds of chips in the paint, and there's the usual cable-rub and a chip in the top-tube where the owner had an 'off' but these are just battlescars that show character, IMO. 8)

The pearl white is still very pearly and glossy, and the neon was still damaging my retina's at 10pm in the dusk-light last night...
