EBAY: alpinestars ti-mega frame and ti fork. ENDING TONIGHT!

I didn't comment re any potential repair on GT Steves thread, but wouldn't a spigot (slimmer length of Ti tube) welded inside the damaged tube (similar to the steerer extension I've seen on here elsewhere) do the trick and make it rideable??

If the spigot was of a length to reach from the dropout to past the weld with the elevated chainstay then surely it would be stronger that new and spread the load passed the critical joint??

Please feel free to mention it on my thread. If it can help Mark, or his sales, or anyone else with a similar problem, then it's all for the greater-good, surely. :D

There just seemed to be so many polarised opinions flying back and forth on there I was reluctant to join in at the time... :?

repair

The repair is not as easy as it sounds. To get a piece of same grade titanium the same internal dia as the tube is one thing but most titanium stockists only sell it in 6ft lengths. Then you need the welder to spend probably 2 hours on it - easier said and certainly more expensive than done. But for such a rare picece of kit someone hopefully bring this back to life.
