made this years ago, standard wood screws in a specialized ground control extreme, worked pretty well over the icy south downs yesterday.

I've been reading about DIY studs using screws just like you have.
What did you line the tyre with? Many flats due to the screws?

i put a blob of glue on each screw head using a glue gun, then i lined the inside of the tyre with gaffer tape just once was enough, tyre was run 45-50 psi ive never had a puncture from the screws.

Now that is awesome. There is a use for old knackered tyres afterall then?

Oh there's an idea, a thread on what alternative uses do you have for things to recycle them after they have come to the end of their intended use.

great idea but I am concerned you ruined a ground control extreme

i added the screws not long after the tyre went out of production.

this tyre is going a bit crusty in places so i think im going to make another pair choosing a modern tyre that is relatively narrow and has knobs that will support each screw to some degree which is key i think.
