points taken off for 734 instead of 732 brakes. JK!

Beautiful bike! Were these built in Canada or Japan?

Thanks! The seat clamp area is fillet brazed so I think canada?

I bought the bike from the original owner so it's 100% factory, all I did was paint the stem black and replace the tires =)

Yeah I was just trying to rib you a little, but I can't tell what is on it in the catalog. Appears 732 and 734 were both offered in '91 and no surprise they went with the latest and greatest.

that's a beauty. love it.
thanks for posting it.
I think I asked you about it awhile back.
amazing shape for it's age.

The 1991 Rocky catalog is one of my favorite books of all time. I don't know how much time I spent looking at it. Every bike they made that year was just spot on. I could make a Top Ten Vintage Bikes I'd Want to Own Most and just pick any ten from 1991 - I'd probably never want for another bike again.

Even among all that awesomeness, the Summit RL felt like something special. It's a literal unicorn; a magical, mystical thing of beauty that only exists in books.

Yet, here it is, and I will say now, this is the most beautiful bicycle I've ever seen. Well done sir.

(I hope that wasn't too weird to write a soliloquy about your bike, but I really love Rockys.)

Thanks everyone!!

It's one of the bikes I have been staring at in the catalog as well! Not since 1991 though... I only got into mountain bikes a couple years ago but this particular summit was one that I wanted from day one....

The original owner took very good care of it. He had babied it since he bought it but was getting old and wanted a gas powered bike. He said he went to the store to buy one and they were the equivalent of 190 pounds but they would not accept the summit in trade so he put it up on kijiji for exactly that... 190 pounds... (the equivalent of a little over $300 canadian) not a bad deal eh? :D
