Well, been meaning to do a build thread for ages so here goes....
I came across this on Gumtree in Cornwall a few months ago and realised it was too far for me so I outed it here, however with HUGE THANKS to Adrian (raidan73) on here tis now mine.
Adrian went to the trouble of collecting the bike and then boxing it up for me.....legend
I knew it was gonna be rough but boy o boy was it rough!
I hoped to refurb it on a tight budget but after a few hours polishing it just wasn't happening (pitted to hell tbh) so reluctantly sent the lovely old frame and fork to John Whiteman Engineering in Long Eaton, Notts to be powdercoated.....and the news is its ready for collection on mon
Obviously, this is no factory rebuild, just a revival at what will hopefully be a daily rider.
I got Gil to adjust the standard decals to suit the new white/blk colour scheme as I thought the red/yellow would look daft.
After a few hours with some wire wool and a rattle can I managed to salvage most of the original parts....though had to buy a new front mech....Arrrh....also I need a new BB(wot size should it be?)....I had to cook the old one with gas to remove and in anger threw it into a nearby field???
Anyway....still after a nice pair of bright amberwall tyres is anyone can help?
I will update on mon when I get the frame back
The pics should show what state it was in!
