IScot-O-Classic - June 2015

Retro Guru
Hi Retro folks
I am involved in planning a Scottish mountain biking weekend festival racing type affair in June 2015 and am putting together a "Velo Village", with stalls and attractions to run alongside the adults and kids racing.
As a keen retrobike fan, I would love to have a retro element involved at the event. I am posting here to gauge interest in possibly holding a display of classic MTBs from back in't day.
Would anyone be up for it?
Are there enough classic oldies out there, north of the border? bikes that is
there will be camping, live music and beer.

If anyone thinks they can help me co-ordinate such a thing, or has bikes worthy of showing off, please PM me and I will see if its worth pursuing
There will be beer, camping and live music :)

cheers
Colin

Re:

Sounds interesting, i'd possibly be up for bringing along a few bikes to display. Where about is this event taking place?

For those with kids that is the first week of the summer hols - could be a good family camping weekend. Plenty of lovely routes in the area and if I recall correctly good food at the croft... http://www.comriecroft.com/

Is it at comrie croft Colin?

Re:

Anymore details about the weekend? I'd been up Comrie in the last month and the new stuff is fantastic, reallly enjoyed the day out. PS If I'm off and not on holiday I can also bring a couple of bikes.

Thinking the race itself could be interesting too, although not necessarily retro (well maybe a token lap).

Sure thing
The event will be at Comrie Croft, a whole weekend of biking fun, with a multi discipline event on the Saturday for adults, sort of enduro, with timed descents, hill climb, XC loop and some other treats; Kids racing on the Sunday with a fun day for the adults - demo bikes, stalls etc etc, full details will be out in the new year.
The event will be family friendly, with weekend camping tickets available, and we'll be running stuff to do from Friday afternoon onwards.
While the racing will be a big part of it, we also want to make it a festivally affair, hence the live music, bar, good local food and other attractions, with plenty for folk to do and look at.
As its focus is mountain biking, the idea of "where it all began..." fits in quite nicely, and a lot of racers are of a certain age to appreciate great examples of the bikes they started out on, so I think the retrobikes would be a really good fit.
It will also encourage me to get the finger out and get the Ally O finished :)
A good turn out I think would be 20-30 bikes, and it would be great if folk have some of the lesser spotted classics.
If anyone fancies it, just shout, and I can slot it into the planning
Cheers
Col
