I know, I know....I'll never hear the end of this.

But...I now have the Explosif which is going to fulfill the exact same role, only it'll be a lot lighter and, well, it's an Explosif. And I want only the best kit for it and it's starting to get expensive. And there's also the other project that I haven't revealed yet, and that's starting to get expensive too...

So, for sale, 'karma Kona', as per my signature, it's had many guises and I've loved owning it, but at the end of the day it's time to move him on. The frame was indeed free, but I did make a small contribution, and now I want to try and sell this as a complete bike, to fund other stuff as above, so I'll give that a go first, and maybe consider splitting him at a later date if that doesn't work.

Spec as he is now: the 16" frame resprayed at Argos many moons ago, tatty but straight and dent/crack free, beefier jumps P2's now fitted, a Tange sealed bearing headset which is about 200 miles old. (I will make the effort to clean it properly tomorrow)

XT short cage rear mech, XT 8 speed shifter (window indicator doesn't work but it's a pretty new shifter), XT cassette, brand new Shimano chain, LX chainset with 44T Middleburn ring. XT 68 x 110 BB, LX M600 brakes and levers, new pads. Rear wheel is XT hub on X517 silver rim, annoyingly has just developed a tiny bit of play in the bearings, front wheel is black SUP Mavic rim on a yellow Sunn/Hugi/DT (?) hub, smooth sealed bearings.

Waxoyled internally, all cabling pretty much brand new. EA50 seatpost, DMR saddle. Choice of bars and stem, what's on there at mo is tatty but definitely straight Club Roost with Bonty stem, other option on the table in pics, is OS white low risers with grey Answer stem (The blue stem in pic has gone now)

Vredstein S-licks on there at mo, but can offer a choice of other tyres but don't have any matching pairs  Have grips for it, just haven't fitted them at the mo as not sure what bars people may want if any one does want it... :)

As is, in the pics, plus with a pair of off road tyres - £130 If you wanted the better/newer bar and stem combo, add a tenner. (Obviously, it owes me much more, but there you go) No offers please....

This only weighs 24lbs without grips/chainring bolts!

For now, will say collection, or meet somewhere half way within a reasonable distance of South Somerset. As of middle of next week, I may be able to post at cost.

Don't want to split as I say for the time being, but if there is interest, then, well....maybe....

Re:

Don't, I know....

It's just with 3 weeks with no work and the costs adding up on the others....can't afford to keep a bike that's a duplicate of purpose!

Re:

Your regret parting with it!!!

It's your old faithful to drop back on.

Re: THAT Kona is for sale...yes you know the one....

It's a damn shame he has to go Kaz :( and although i've loved reading about him i can't afford him although he is a tad to small for me tbh but with luck he'll find a decent home ;) ..

I can do payment terms....

To be honest, I thought (rather stupidly) this would be snapped up, despite the present sales climate. He'd make a great retro ride for a kid or teenager, or just another short arse like me

Giving it the rest of the bank hol weekend, then I'll be looking at splitting. There's a lot of XT on this....

Re:

Splitting this tomorrow or Monday if no interest, in which case I'll be keeping the frame to get SS drop outs put on at some point....

Sample prices would be:

Front wheel £15
Rear wheel £25 (another £5 if the XT cassette goes with it)
Forks £25
XT 8 speed shifter £12
Full set LX M600 V brakes and levers £20

A lot of the other bits I would probably keep until I know exactly what I'm doing with the Explosif, things like the chainset, seat post etc.

Re:

Will split this tomorrow and list then, unless someone wants it complete, I've just been out there weighing the Spesh as an experiment so weighed this too - without grips and chainring bolts, it's only 24lbs, I would say that's pretty light! OK so it's got super silly light tyres on it, but the knobblies I would give you to go with it are kevlar lightweight things too....

Anyone before I split....?

Re: THAT Kona is for sale...yes you know the one....

I wish i hadn't so much to deal with right now as i'd have the bike for the mrs as i've been wanting to get one for her for a wee while now oh well ! , any how less of the moaning and how long are those handelbar stems ? .
