19" Klein rascal horizon linear fade frame inc colour matched mission control bar/stem, deore dx headset, manitou 3 fork, b/b and klein grips.

Heres a nice little fellow that may be of interest. The frame is in good nick structurally with no dents or bubbling paint, its colours are still glossy and very vibrant but get up close and it does have a fair few scratches/chips etc. I bought this recently do do a build for a friend which went off the boil when it arrived with far more scratches than we had hoped for especially down the bottom of the left hand chainstay where some poor packaging had put the fork dropout against the paintwork  . Theres a bit of chainsuck scrape and a scrape to the inside of the right hand dropout where it looks like a chain has rubbed against it. The bars are full width but the ends are a bit messy from bar end crunches, obviously these are covered by the grips. The manitous are in good condition but will need a set of elastomers/coils as they are empty inside.
Although I have probably painted a dark and grizzly picture here the bike still looks very nice built up and will make a fantastic rider, it will bug the hell out of a polisher or perfectionist though.
I just want to get my cost back out of this which is £399. Now im hoping I may be able to offer this a bit cheaper if the partial credit that the seller promised me lands, if all goes to plan I should be able to do it at £350 ish dependant on exactly what I get back from him. He seems a nice chap so I am fairly hopeful of this. If this does not come to pass I will be holding out for the £399 or maybe sticking it in the shop as a full bike. Incidentally I do have pretty much a full build ready to roll on an xt group which I could supply (fully or partially) if there is interest.
I will pop some more pics up in a wee while.
Thanks

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade

Sounds interesting, very unusual being a Rascal in HLF, looking forward to some pics.

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade

Heres some of the "unfortunates". Theres a general smattering of chips and scrapes, but hey ho, on the bright side the bits that are not scratched look lovely and glossy, you can tell it has not wintered in the UK, It came from the warm dry US so has none of the usual flakey bubbly horrors that you tend to see on kleins from over here.

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade

The last photo, is it a chip or a crack, it is just hard to see it properly

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade

Its one of many paint scrapes. It looks like a fork has caught it at some point, not the manitou though as it clears the tube completely.
I cant work out if I am overjoyed or saddened by this bike, one one hand its a shame that it has lots of paint scars but on the other hand it always makes me happy to see a klein that has been used for its intended purpose and not pampered like a metallic lapdog.

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade fuselage with manitou 3

Ok, I see what you mean. Until you pointed it out, I didn't get that mark.

I have a Top Gun that I use as a commuter, it's no garage queen, but it gets used everyday.

So is it just forks/frame/mc1 in the sale?

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade fuselage with manitou 3

And a pair of klein grips. Any of the parts in the pics could be available if you fancied them.......except my trusty saddle which belongs on my faithful mountain klein.

Re: Klein rascal horizon linear fade fuselage with manitou 3

I could sell without the manitou forks if needs be. Im not sure if splitting the frame and bars is the right thing to do so will keep them together.
Manitous £65 posted within the UK (Highlands and islands will be a bit more)
