ID 1980s Raleigh

Quick question re ID of the 1980s Raleigh frame I picked up over the weekend (as was offered almost FOC when I collected 1970s Peugeot) - frame was stripped and left unpainted, rust all over, but can be cleaned IMO.

Before I do that, i need to know is it worth the bother...

Now I suspect it was made in 1989 due to stamped (main) numbers on bottom and some Exage/105 components, but it also has additional letters/numbers on BB?

Any idea what these are (aside Post Code in Croydon :D :D )

WB9001689

CR0 3SG

82

Any idea what these numbers are and their meaning?

isn't the 9 for 1979, I thought that Raleigh had changed the numbering system by 1989? yup, post code and house number :)

I believe it is 1989 due to cable stays are on the bottom of the top tube, while one of my older Raleighs has them on top, which was probably done until mid 80s

Thanks for the post code note :D

Thanks - not guessing what model it is as impossible to say, but lugs are nice and it weighs just over 2kg @ enormous 65cm size. Will see if anyone wants it FOC near me to collect if fancy rubbing the frame clean... :xmas-big-grin:

Pics would be nice :)

Yes of course - headset cups will be taken off as part of complete vintage Campi headset - worth the bother with the bike alone

Re:

The seat cluster arrangement and cast seat lug together with all the braze ons looks just like my Raleigh 531c Luxe that I raced back circa 1987-89. Mine was white base with sky blue fade at the front and rear and red at the seat and BB. They also did an identical but 653 version in white, red and green.
