Late to the party, but yeah, exactly the same experience with the same brakes.

Not on parallel push V-brakes.
 
And i've had the same issue with multiple V-brakes, XT and XTR, round spring and square spring. All have been solved with a tweak to the spring. They appear to be fairly robust!

You can now decrease the spring tension a bit buy switching the conical washer packs around on the brake pads. Bigger stack should be brake-pad side. Slimmer stack goes under the bolt.
This way the arms will be a bit further away from the tyre, and there won't be quite so much tension on the spring.
