winter road tyres 700c?Tis slippy time again!!

I have been trying out the GP5000TL tyres. grippy an comfy but not robust.

The most robust andd grippy tyres seem to be IRC. I like there tubuless tyre the formula pro X guard. The Roadlite tubeless is very good also. The clincher version the roadlite x guard is apparantly very good too (so I am told). I just cant bring myself to use tubes any more.

I'm very happy with Schwalbe Durano Plus Etape. I think the normal Durano Plus is the same, minus a bit of yellow labelling, but Spa Cycles are knocking out the Etape ones for £16 as they were a special edition for the TdF in Yorkshire. Low wear, grippy, pretty puncture-proof (has the blue foam SmartGuard layer like Marathon Plus, but not as thick), weight not really noticeable in 23mm.

I've used all sorts of other winter commuting tyres but these are the best yet. Others have either been too slippy (Vredestein Fortezza Quattro), heavy (Marathon Plus) or puncture if you look at them (Conti UltraGatorSkins).
