Which group set for a 1979 Carlton Professional build?

Turning it into single speed is criminal in my opinion, not my bike though...
Don't agree - it perhaps shouldn't be a single speed but its still a classic set up? Thank god it not a vulgar "fixie" though!

Re:

Here is the group-set.

All in good condition, but will benefit from some more polishing!

Seat post is period, but not Arabesque. Is there such a thing? And the shifters do not appear Arabesque unless there were two different types? They have a small 333 on each lever? let me know if you know what they are.

I will obtain the correct shifters and possibly headset (the frame has a very nice Campag one on at the moment which is super smooth) but will leave the bottom bracket for now as it is a very smooth modern new one and you cannot see it anyway!

The last point is hoods. I have seem Arabesque set ups both with and without hoods. Any thoughts?

Did you fix this up then? Would like to see pictures

I'd go for a gran sport setup wouldn't look to far off even though I've just finished assembling an Arabesque group set be nice to see how it turns out
