No you don't, I think they were a favourite with couriers due to the low maintenance and high reliability.

I had it's big brother, sort of, a few years back; it wasn't as tidy as this one though:

I had a red one, 18k a year riding between London & Oxford every day back in the 90’s. By the end of that chapter in my life it was far from tidy, but never let me down.....
