Having had a recent laptop HDD disaster I have had to start from scratch and re-install everything again. I have back-ups of all the important stuff but for some strange reason cannot get Dreamweaver MX to work. Using Windows 7 (SP1) with DW running in compatibility mode.

Question is, can anyone suggest a WYSIWYG type of website authoring / managment software that is similar to Dreamweaver but for either no-cost or low-cost?

I have experience with Dreamweaver and also manual HTML wizardry.

I've had a couple of web hosting customers who have got on fairly well with KompoZer. Not looked at it myself in a while but worth a look as it's free open source software and multi-platform.

Sadly it doesn't seem to be being developed any more but it probably handles most things for a basic web site OK. The support forum seems to be current though...

No Idea, I'm kinda retro when it comes to sitebuilding. I only work with Notepad.

Notepad ??? that's posh, real men use vi of course :)
What's this with the new fangled vi? What's wrong with emacs?

s'actually a lie, I much prefer vi - use it practically every day...

I have Net Objects Fusion 4.

Came free electronically with my 1&1 hosting deal.
WYSIWYG and good

Could probably put it on disc or something if I tried

dreamweaver alternatives in google brings up some links to 10 to alternatives etc.

been a very long time since I did anything web based I wouldn't know where to look.
