Vitus 979 54cm *cracked derailleur hanger, Shimano 105 £180

Retro Newbie
Hi guys,

Not too sure how to price this one, but I bought a Vitus 979 that I purchased from someone online, and took it to my local bike shop to be put together (was shipped from Spain). Anyway, they managed to crack the rear derailleur hanger and i've done a lot of research about what I can do about it, and have chosen to move on and just get myself a used Cannondale CAAD 8. Gutted, but I just don't have the time or money to get it fixed or converted.

SPECS:

Gearset - Shimano 105
Headset - Shimano 600
Gear levers - Shimano 600

Front brake - Shimano 500 Exage
Rear brake - Shimano 105
Rear wheel - Mavic open Shimano 600 hub
Front wheel - Mavic 192 Campagnolo hub

So, just wanting to gauge interest in the frame, the Shimano 105 groupset and the Mavic wheels.

Pickup from London SE5 8NG.

Cheers!

Re: Vitus 979 *cracked derailleur hanger*, Shimano 105, Mavic

Hi - forum rules mean you will need to put prices up for what it is you're looking to sell - people won't make you offers without some prices first, that's not how it works, I'm afraid. Of course you can always put a price, but be open to offers on that price. Some more details would probably be useful too - frame size, wheel details, etc. Take a look around for other posts with similar stuff for sale to get an idea of a price. There is another full Vitus 979 bike up for £220 right now (with a less serious issue with the frame) which probably just sold, for example...

What did the bike shop have to say for themselves?? That's a real shame. Makes me wonder if it already had a small crack there which wasn't noticed before, I don't see how it would happen otherwise?

Still waiting to hear back whether they are willing to compensate, but i'm not holding my breath. Apologies, just added a price and some more details.

Re: Vitus 979 *cracked derailleur hanger*, Shimano 105 - £180

Thanks for adding a price. I imagine you would be best off splitting it into frame, wheels and parts. Just those 600 levers are worth a decent amount, for example - but depends if you have the time/inclination to do that, I guess. Anyway, good luck with everything!
