Using an F tyre on the R - wrong?

Oh course it shows jolly bad taste and marks one down as a declasse rotter, but is there anything wrong with using a front "specific" tyre on the rear? Perhaps just reverse the direction?

I'm of course asking for a 'friend', I'm sure you understand.

Does this go any way to explaining your recent falling off incident? ;)

Sadly not as I was on a cross bike with decent tyres. I did ponder whether itw as due to not keeping the faith with a retrobike but as it was an '84 frame and forks with Mafac cantis, Super Record cranks, non indexed barend shifters etc. it can't be that. Ultimately simple rider incompetence is the only viable answer.....

Lot of the top boys run Maxxis Minions F&R - brill at places like Fort Bill in the dry, whatever works for you really

Really don't believe it makes much difference. Slicks or mudpluggers - yes a world of difference, but not front /rear tyres. Use 'em as you will....

(different story on a motorsickle of course, but you'd expect that  )
