Today's Ride

Re:

What a machine. And the bike isn't bad either ;-) Wore the very same jacket today and yesterday in slightly more suburban conditions.

Re:

I did break out some shorts on Saturday (honest!) when it reached 17 C here, but the temperature was decidedly chilly this morning, so it was back to the longs again  .

Today I headed North for a change, and took a ride up to Fence Wood at Cold Ash and then back home through Bucklebury Common.

Bucklebury is where I had all my growing up years, from early teens to leaving home in my early 20’s. On my way home today, I swung by the bungalow on the edge of the Common where I used to live with my parents. While I was gawping at the place, an old chap in the front garden asked if I was lost, so I told him that I used to live there. He even knew my surname as he remembered buying the place from my Dad 33 years ago! He insisted that I took a look inside the place – blimey a trip down memory lane :D .

Some great looking rides Pip

Have'nt been posting on here for a bit, mainly due to breaking all the usb ports on my laptop  but also with all the hot weather i had nowhere to carry the camera :)

Rode up to the highest point in Nottinghamshire (supposedly) today. I say up, its more of a gentle climb as most things around here are flat. Finally got another needle adaptor so could put air back into the forks and take the Brodie out again :D

Nice day, cold breeze if you stood around too long but perfect for riding.

Quick ride today.

Out on the more modern, seems like harder work with just the single chainring up front, after being out on the Brodie.

Mild weather today, no cold wind so was very warm in a jacket.

I think that says a lot really ;) .

I tried a 1x11 set-up on my 2000 Explosif, and for me it was truly awful. Then I popped on a front Mech again with 2x11, which is the set-up that Al commented on. It is still not a patch on any 3x8 or 3x9 or even 3x10, but it will do for a Winter hack as I don't care if it wears out in the wetter conditions.

Anyway, nice pictures again with a fantastic view in that last one.

Took my parkpre out for an hour today, just around the lanes and tracks near home as I didn't have more time, haven't ridden an MTB without the boys along in ages, so it was good to be able to ride faster than 10 mph, and not have to stop every 5 mins!

Another exploration today. An old hunting estate called ‘Red Lodge’ and the surrounding network of boggy paths. Nice, quiet, flat.

Really nice day today, perfect for riding. A bit warm in the woods but when out in the open there was a nice breeze.

Short ride today, the woods are riding really nice now the ground has dried up a bit. My legs were like jelly today, think im getting a cold or something, so the smoother sections were a nice respite.
