The one and only "HOW MUCH IS MY xyz WORTH" thread

I originally purchased this GT Karakoram (triple triangle) around 1993-95, although I cant exactly remember what year..

I am thinking of selling it and would like as much information as possible in the advert but I cant remember a thing about it. :(

It cost around £800 new and I purchased from J E James cycles in Sheffield. For the first 10 or so years of its life it was stuck in my garage not being used. Then It was used for a couple of years before being covered up again until 2 years ago. Since then I have used it to commute to work (around 8 miles a day)

Its in pretty good nick and just needs 2 new tires and a good service. Everything on the bike is still original, even the tires :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if the pictures are blurred, rubbish iPhone camera.

around £125/150 id say looks a good one tho
you may increas it value (slightly)by removing all the tat

I've got the opportunity to buy a '97 GT STS. Kit is as follows:

- 16" STS Frame with Stratos rear shock - BETD bearing kit (£120 alone) installed
- XTR M950 mechs, cassette + shifters
- Middleburn RS7(?) crankset/chainrings
- Pace RC36 Forks
- Original KORE Handlebars, Stem and Seatpost
- Hope Ti Hubs
- Hope Discs (unsure of model - closed system)
- Sun Rhyno Lite Rims

The bike also comes with another set of wheels (LX hubs, Mavic X221s), as well as a set of '97 Judy C forks, and a complete set of V Brakes (1 XT, 1 XTR plus levers).

Overall, it's in excellent condition. Decals have been removed but cosmetically there's hardly a mark on it.

Any ideas on value please guys?

Barney, If you can get that lot for £500, I'd consider it an excellent deal...

Have to agree. £100. Earlier models had a better mix of xt and deore dx. You'll get more if you can wait around for a Karakoram lover. TBH for the hassle of selling it, the average return on your original investment and given what you use it for, it'd be a keeper.

(that's what my 91 karakoram's for!)

As Coomber says, look at my recent post, and Ringo's reply.

The STS I'm talking about is an STS-1 and it's absolutely mint, so base your price on that :)
