The build has begun

Re:

It's a 2.2 tyre and the wheel is all the way forward in the adjustable dropout.
It will be further back when set up and I will probably use a slightly smaller tyre.
This was the biggest tyre I could find to use for setting up purposes.

Re:

I am indeed um er racing

I've entered the solo category and for a bit of fun I will be on my fat bike.

As much as I would like to say I will be seriously competing I'm only looking likely to win the lanterne rouge!

It would be good to put a face to the name and see the bike - I shouldn't be too hard to spot!

Will inquire via their FB page as I didn't get anywhere via their/his webpage inquiry form.

Look forward to more pics!

Re:

Did I see you racing there at MSG last September on a fatbike?
It seemed to float over everything in its path.
I am part of a two man team and we will be pushing hard but I dare say there will be some seriously fast people out as usual who will ride flat out all day but look like they are nipping down the shops.

Praying for sun as Shouldham is really sticky and draggy if it gets too wet.

Re:

A couple of new pictures.

Re:

Seeing the last pic I'm guessing your fairly tall.

Is that a tapered head tube, integrated or something special?

I have a similar albeit non custom set up. I have an Alfine hub for this but have always run it SS

I had planned to run a belt rather than chain but have read a fair amount about them being less than suitable for off road duties.

Look forward to finished pics and hopefully seeing it in the steel

Re:

Mark, it's a 44mm headtube and has a Hope headset fitted, with the same Lefty kit that you use.
It was actually seeing your Skookum that gave me the idea for this build.
I am nearly 6' 2" tall, with a 35" inside leg so it needed to be fairly big.
The only bike to ever fit me perfectly was my Pace RC200 20" which unfortunately fell in half in February and this is loosely based on the dimensions of that so hopefully will feel as good, but with decent suspension and brakes that work.

I liked the idea of belt drive but have seen a couple of broken ones and I want this to be ultra reliable above almost anything else.

Re:

Just the cable guides and seat stay bridge to do. Getting excited now. :D
