Ok then how easy is it supposed to be?

Acid etch, clean, electrolysis, colour dip, clean, oxidise, clean. Or an approximation there of.

Expect spots, expect grease marks, expect a different colour to what you thought.

Anodising isn't easy. In fact it's a pain the arse and it takes a lot to get right.
